Pine cones and the FDA, oh my! Montana Meadowlark Apothecary is a Montana-based herbal tea and natural products boutique. My client approached me with the need for a product label for their wild-harvested pine pollen tincture. I began the design process by examining Meadowlark's competitors and researching FDA guidelines for supplement label requirements. After exploring the 100+ page supplemental label requirements guide, I then implemented additional critical FDA-required copy.

At first, my client was not sure what direction they wanted. I presented my explorations of their competitors' products to guide the discussion. The final label features a neutral color palette that works to convey the sophistication of the brand and the quality of the product. Inspired by antique hand-drawn botanicals, the addition of the pine cones not only showcases the main ingredient of the product but works to provide added texture and depth to the background of the label. My client was quite excited!
