Expesicor Brand Identity & Logo Design

Expesicor was a preclinical stage, privately-held, Montana-based company focused on preventing, treating, and curing neurological disorders. Their pipeline offered proprietary therapeutics, imaging probes, and drug screening tools. Expesicor had worked with a previous designer for their logo and color palette, but they still lacked a fully flushed-out brand with cohesive multi-media collateral. In my time there as a Creative Content Specialist, I developed a plethora of print and digital assets for use across marketing and brand awareness efforts.
Team X was Expesicor's internship program that took pride in being more than an internship, but rather a community that provided interns the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Expesicor approached me with a need to develop a logo icon that could be used to distinguish Team X as an extension of Expesicor's brand and team.
TEAM X LOGO
The Team X logo directly referenced the Expesicor logo, while still being a distinct standalone mark. The concept was inspired by the rounded square blocks of the Expesicor logo. By using these blocks to create an X-letterform, the logo icon provided a bold and graphic take on the letter “X”. The logo icon also references the Expesicor logo with the incorporation of small interconnected squares. These small squares also work to represent the interconnected community that comprised the Team X internship program. Just like in the Expesicor logo, the rounded corners of the squares work to soften these shapes to represent connection and community. The representation of connection and community is further enhanced by the use of interconnected lines that work to further convey the meaning behind them.
